Goat Week 2026
The Fundamentals
Goats help The Phoenix Conservancy control invasive plants and restore native prairie.
Much of Conservation Park is covered by invasive plant species like Whitetop, Scentless Chamomile, and Absinthe, all of which outcompete the native species that call the Palouse home. Goats act as all-terrain lawn mowers that keep these weeds at bay to give prairie plants a chance to grow strong during the summer.
Together with the City of Pullman and Leshay Goat Rentals, it's our 5th year of having a heard of goats at Conservation Park. They've made incredible progress, with much of the Park now on the rebound.
You can see conservation in action just by watching them eat!
The end result?
More space for native wildflowers and grasses to take hold in one of the most endangered ecosystems on Earth.

The Event
This goat herd will be mowing Conservation Park until Sunday morning on May 10th. You can stop by any time to watch them — just mind the electric fence!
The Phoenix Conservancy will be tabling on Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th. You'll get to meet the of goats up close, including lots of adorable babies helping their mamas eat all the unwanted plants!
We'll be running a biochar demonstration both days, so come by to learn how invasive species control with goats and fire can improve your soil.
We'll also have native plants, native seed, biochar, and Madagascar Marula Oil available for purchase just in time for Mother's Day!

How to Help
You can support our efforts to restore Conservation Park, along with all of the Palouse Prairie, by making one-time or monthly gifts at our Donate Page.
Tell us about your experience with the goats! Use #GoatWeek and tag us on social media to spread the word and keep us updated.
If you missed this opportunity, don't worry! Follow us on social media and sign up for our newsletter to find out when the goats will be back.
Our progress in Conservation Park would not be possible without the City of Pullman, Leshay Goat Rentals, and numerous individual donors. To everyone who has contributed to our efforts, thank you!
